Cher has requested temporary legal conservatorship of her 47-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman in Los Angeles Superior Court, as reported in Billboard.

She cites her son’s ongoing substance abuse battle as the reason for seeking conservatorship.

Cher wants to be the sole conservator of Allman’s estate due to his “severe mental health and substance abuse issues.”

She is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs and puts his life at risk.

She believes that directly distributing funds to Elijah would not be in his best interests.

Allman is the son of Cher and the late Gregg Allman, one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band.

Allman and Cher were married from 1975 to 1979, and Elijah Blue is their only child. Allman died in 2017 after a battle with liver cancer.
