Popular Nigerian on-air personality, Do2dtun, is upset with local artists demanding payment in foreign currencies for domestic concerts. He took to social media to express his displeasure, noting the growing trend of Nigerian musicians preferring to be paid in dollars for performances in their own country. Despite Afrobeat being indigenous to Nigeria, Do2dtun finds it bizarre that artists are now charging their own people in dollars. He emphasized the togetherness and unity that the genre brings and criticized the artists for spoiling it by demanding foreign currency. Do2dtun referred to the situation as a “bizarre and unusual development.”
 

Do2dtun, a popular Nigerian on-air personality, recently expressed his displeasure with Nigerian artists requesting remuneration in foreign currencies for domestic concerts.

The OAP resorted to social media to express his displeasure, emphasising the growing trend of local talent preferring to be paid in dollars.

He added that, despite the fact that the musicians and genre are indigenous to the country, booking payments are now made in US dollars, even for performances in Nigeria.

Do2dtun referred to the latest development as a “bizarre and unusual development.”

Taking to his X handle, Do2dtun wrote:
“This Afrobeat we all built together, na Una go use Una hands spoil am. You now charge your own people in dollars. Forget to unlock the togetherness the genre gives you and your people. Quite strange and bizarre.”
